RESOURCES - INSTITUTIONAL REVIEW BOARD

Emory University´s Institutional Review Board (IRB)

The Institutional Review Board (IRB) committee at Emory University approves, monitors, and reviews biomedical and behavioral research involving humans with the aim of protecting the rights and welfare of the research subjects. An IRB performs critical oversight functions for research conducted on human subjects ensuring the research is scientific, ethical, and in compliance with regulatory guidelines. In the United States, IRBs are governed by Title 45 CFR (Code of Federal Regulations) Part 46 (Source WikiPedia). Emory University contracts with a company that provides a browser based application, eIRB, used by the Emory IRB to review proposed research, to monitor and regulate ongoing research, and to communicate with investigators. All JAL Foundation participants conducting research based at Emory University involving human subjects will need an eIRB account.
